About: IAN ROSS
IAN ROSS Artist Statement
I work without the burden of intention. I allow my paintings to grow organically, into their own unique and separate reality. While working in this fast and spontaneous manner, I focus on color and compostition instead of subject matter, allowing the unknown and mysterious imagery the chance to emerge from the shapes and lines.
Painting “live” for an audience has become the focus of my creative energy over the last six years. The challenges and rewards of this exercise have had a profound effect on my each painting, and on my career. Every time I paint “live” I learn something about myself, and my work. The audience is also engaged in the creative process, and feel as if they have affected the development of the painting.
I have a BFA in Ceramics from CSULB. My experience with three-dimensional artwork, sculpture, and installation pieces is reflected in my paintings. My work in two-dimensions suggests special arrangements, landscapes and objects. I am very interested in the notion of visual stimulation, or “eye candy” and how this idea can come through in my artwork. Lines can lead your gaze around a canvas, and details might make you pause to think.
I enjoy working fast and spontaneously. I believe in the emotion of each painting, I feel as if I’m trying to communicate with the inanimate canvas as if it is alive. I have a relationship with each piece that developes over time until we are separated. This process is what makes me who I am.

Artist Profile: ROBERT HARRIS
About Robert:
Harris derives inspiration from spiritual energy, nature, traditional art, music and most significantly, humanity. He takes what lies beneath the human façade and creates a non-linear, authentic reality. This reality taps into raw emotions inherent in all human beings, though often hidden behind societal-influenced masks. Removing the mask and exposing truth is more than art, it is a movement.
“Every form of artistic expression is a direct representation of human existence. The raw emotion, thought processes, and consequences endured by ordinary people profoundly connects the community. The art movement not only exposes this connection, it embraces it; it encourages self-examination in a selfless context,” said Harris.
Harris’ work has progressed into distinguished and highly recognizable pieces that are displayed in public and private collections worldwide. Additionally, he serves as a visual DJ though live artperformances at special events including, but not limited to: wine tasting parties, celebrity concerts, art store openings, non-profit fundraisers, night club promotions, and business gatherings.
